Jon Berti Strains His Groin Thursday
2 years agoMiami Marlins infielder Jon Berti (groin) left Thursday's contest early against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to a mild left groin strain. Berti walked and injured his groin while stealing his 28th base of the season early on in this one. It doesn't sound like the injury is a serious one, but it could keep him out on Friday and perhaps into the weekend ahead of next week's All-Star break. Fantasy managers should consider the 32-year-old to be day-to-day right now. Berti has been impressive in 2022 for Miami, entering the day with a .271/.362/.375 slash line with two home runs, 19 RBI, 32 runs scored and a league-leading 27 stolen bases in 221 plate appearances over 57 games. He'll continue to be fantasy relevant in all leagues because of his speed, but hopefully his groin injury doesn't affect his ability to swipe bags moving forward.
