Jon Berti Steals Two Bases Friday Night
2 years agoMiami Marlins infielder Jon Berti was hitless in three at-bats in the 6-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday night, but he had a walk, a sacrifice, two RBI, a run scored and two more stolen bases out of the leadoff spot with Jazz Chisholm Jr. (back) on the injured list. Believe it or not, but Berti now leads the majors with his 24 stolen bases, and 20 of them have come since the start of June. He hit .297/.360/.376 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 15 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 26 games in June to raise his season line to .276/.367/.391 with two long balls, 16 RBI, 28 runs scored and 24 thefts. The 32-year-old should continue to play every day with Chisholm sidelined, and his speed makes him worth rostering in all formats.
