Joey Wendle Recovered From Wrist Injury
5 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle (wrist) is confident that the right wrist injury that sidelined him twice last season is fully healed. "It feels really good," Wendle said. "I don’t foresee it being an issue whatsoever this season, and I’m looking forward to hopefully a fully healthy season." Wendle hit just .231 with a .633 OPS, three home runs, 19 RBI and eight stolen bases in 75 games in 2019. That came after he was fourth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2018 with a .300/.354/.435 slash line, seven home runs, 61 RBI and 16 steals in 139 games. With Willy Adames entrenched at shortstop and Brandon Lowe at the keystone, Wendle will strictly be a utility infielder for Tampa in 2020, if he can stay healthy. That gives him very little fantasy appeal, even in AL-only affairs.
