Joey Loperfido 4-For-18 To Begin Blue Jays Tenure
4 months agoToronto Blue Jays rookie outfielder Joey Loperfido, who was part of the package sent to Toronto in last week's trade that sent left-hander Yusei Kikuchi to the Houston Astros, has gotten off to a 4-for-18 (.222) start in four games with his new team. Loperfido has tripled and struck out nine times in his first 19 plate appearances with Toronto, so it hasn't exactly been a great start with his new club after he slashed .236/.299/.358 with two homers, 16 RBI, two stolen bases and 11 runs scored in his first 38 big-league games earlier this year in Houston. Two of the 25-year-old's hits came in Friday's win over the New York Yankees. He's seen most of his playing time in left field so far for the Jays and should see more consistent playing time to close out the year in 2024 than he was getting with the Astros.
