Joey Gallo Won't Play Third Base In 2019
6 years agoTexas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that outfielder/first baseman Joey Gallo will not play third base next year despite the team trading away infielder Jurickson Profar. Texas prefers Gallo either in the outfielder or at first base. So Gallo will not be adding third base eligibility back to his name next year, unfortunately. The left-handed swinger is about as all or nothing as you can get in baseball. He hit just .206 last year but posted an .810 OPS with 40 home runs and 92 RBI. He struck out 35.9 percent of the time in 2018. Gallo can give you elite power and drive in runs, but he'll kill your team's batting average.
