Joe Thornton Returns To Action Against Devils
3 years agoFlorida Panthers forward Joe Thornton (undisclosed) has been activated from Injured Reserve and will return to action on Thursday against the Devils. The veteran has missed eight games and enters the lineup on the third line. The Panthers have just lost Aleksander Barkov (lower body), so Thornton comes in at a good time to provide more center depth. The 42-year-old is way past his prime and boasts only one point in six appearances this season, but he'll get some power-play time and could play a more prominent role until Barkov returns. The Panthers captain is considered week-to-week. Sam Bennett will take his role as the first-line center.
