Joe Ryan 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Potential SP1 With Health
4 mins agoJoe Ryan was on track for a career year in 2024. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury saw him miss the final two months of the season. Before the injury, Ryan had a 3.60 ERA (23 starts) but once again failed to make 30 starts in a season. As a full-time Major Leaguer, Ryan has now totaled 443.2 IP over three seasons. That will need to improve if Ryan is going to take the next step towards being a fantasy stud. When healthy, Ryan has been a star on the mound. His 3.44 xFIP and 3.28 SIERA hint at Ryan being able to lower his ERA from last year. Ryan's 27.3% K% ranked 17th best among the 96 pitchers with at least 130.0 IP in 2024 while his 4.3% BB% was sixth best among that group. That elite walk rate has helped Ryan to a career 1.07 WHIP. Despite his stellar numbers, Ryan only managed seven wins in his 23 starts. That was even more disappointing given he only failed to complete five innings once (his injury-shortened last start) and had 13 quality starts. If Ryan can reach the 180.0 IP mark, he can put up SP1-type numbers.
