Joe Musgrove Undergoes Surgery
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (abdomen, pelvis) underwent surgery to fix the abdominal wall and to help his pelvic stress reaction heal. The Pirates expect the right-hander to be on a schedule close to a normal spring training. Musgrove was shut down late in the year due to the injury. He had his moments in 2018 and went 6-9 with a 4.06 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 across 19 starts for the Bucs. He should remain a key member of the rotation heading into next season as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
