Joe Burrow Waiting To Sign Rookie Deal
5 years agoCincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, said in an interview on the "Pardon My Take" podcast on Friday that he hasn't signed his contract with the team because he's in a holding period due to the coronavirus pandemic. Burrow is projected to receive a $23.9 million signing bonus when he officially signs, according to Spotrac.com. Some high first-round picks may take longer than usual to sign this year because of COVID-19 and the potential revenue losses that could result. However, there's no concern that any of the deals won't eventually get done. Despite not signing yet, Burrow and the other Cincy rookies have already been working with the coaches on the installation of their playbooks. The former LSU star signal-caller will immediately step in as the Week 1 starter in 2020 in a very tough matchup against Joey Bosa, Derwin James and the Chargers.
