JJ Bleday Bulks Up For 2022 Season
3 years agoMiami Marlins outfield prospect JJ Bleday checked into the team's development camp a few weeks ago at 215 pounds, up nearly 20 pounds from the 195 he weighed at the start of spring training a year ago. "I feel more grounded when I'm a little bit bigger, have more body control," Bleday said. The fourth overall pick in 2019 had an inconsistent first full minor league season in 2021, but he finished as the Arizona Fall League's co-Hitter of the Year. Bleday will most likely start the 2022 season at Triple-A Jacksonville, but he's on the fast track to the big leagues and is certainly a name to know in dynasty/keeper leagues. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter could definitely have 30-homer power with the additional weight and his 6-foot-3 frame.
