Jimmy Nelson Could Work Out Of Bullpen
5 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said that starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson could become a Brandon Morrow-type of late-inning reliever if he's not in the starting rotation. Nelson isn't a lock to win a rotation spot, especially since he's already dealing with a groin injury in camp. The 30-year-old had a fine season in 2017 with the Brewers (3.49 ERA, 1.25 WHIP in 29 starts), but he injured his shoulder late that year and missed all of 2018. He made just three starts last season and shouldn't be drafted in shallow mixed leagues, even if he wins a rotation spot. If Nelson is working out of the bullpen, he won't have much fantasy appeal unless you're in a holds league.
