Jets Take Mekhi Becton At No. 11 In First Round
5 years agoThe New York Jets selected Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday. Becton is huge -- 364 pounds -- but he ran a sub-5.1-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. He's athletic for his size because of his quick feet. He stands at 6-foot-7 and is a force to be reckoned with on the offensive line. The Jets were expected to either go receiver early in the first round or get some more protection for quarterback Sam Darnold. Becton qualifies as protection for Darnold, and he should start right away at left protector. There is some concern about his weight, but he could wind up being the best offensive tackle in this class when all is said and done.
