Jesus Sanchez Wins Center Field Job
3 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez has won the team's starting center field job to open the 2022 season. The Marlins had been looking into potential trades for Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds and Oakland Athletics outfielder Ramon Laureano, but they ultimately have decided to give the job to Sanchez, who has hit .250 (5-for-20) with two RBI in eight Grapefruit League games this spring. In his second major league season for the Fish last year, the 24-year-old slashed .251/.319/.489 with 14 home runs, 36 RBI and 27 runs scored in 251 plate appearances over 64 games played. He'll strictly be a target for outfield depth in NL-only leagues.
