Jesus Luzardo Making Case For Rotation Spot
6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo, the team's top prospect and No. 12 overall per MLB Pipeline, is making a case for a rotation spot this spring. He has given up just one earned run over 9 2/3 innings (0.93 ERA) with 15 strikeouts and an opponent's batting average of just .176. The 21-year-old left-hander has nasty stuff and went 10-5 with a 2.88 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.6 K% in 23 starts across three minor league levels in 2018. Luzardo should already be owned in dynasty/keeper leagues and is worth a late-round pick in mixed leagues for his upside, especially if he makes the Opening Day rotation.
