Jeremy Giambi Dies At Age 47
3 years agoFormer Major League outfielder and designated hitter Jeremy Giambi passed away on Wednesday at the age of 47, according to his agent, Joel Wolfe. Giambi was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the sixth round of the 1996 draft out of Cal State Fullerton, and he spent the best seasons of his career with the Oakland Athletics. He made his big league debut on Sept. 1, 1998 with the Royals. Giambi joined his older brother, Jason, with the A's in 2000 when he was traded. His breakout season came the following year, when he slashed .283/.391/.450 with 12 home runs in 124 games to help the A's make the playoffs. In six major league seasons, Giambi hit .263/.377/.430 with 52 home runs and 209 RBI in 510 games for the Royals, A's, Phillies and Red Sox.
