5 years agoThe Detroit Tigers recalled third baseman Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday and placed starting pitcher Spencer Turnbull on the bereavement list in a corresponding move. Candelario was demoted 13 days ago and had 15 hits in 42 at-bats (.357) with three home runs and 13 RBI in 11 games for Toledo. He returns to an ugly .192/.285/.288 slash line in the bigs with two homers and nine RBI in 38 games. Candelario is hitting sixth on Tuesday against Orioles starter Dylan Bundy, so hopefully Baltimore's poor pitching can jump start him in his return. Take a wait-and-see approach with him in deep mixed leagues. Turnbull has been one of Detroit's best starter this year, going 2-4 with a 2.97 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings (11 starts).
