Jeff McNeil Starting Rehab Assignment Thursday
5 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil (hamstring) is starting his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday and will play in a corner outfield spot for around five to seven innings. The Mets want to see if he can "run around a little bit and still be able to control the effort" before activating him from the injured list. It's looking like McNeil could be back as soon as early next week. McNeil has a very solid .332/.400/.529 slash line with 15 homers, 67 runs, 55 RBI and four stolen bases this year and should return to an everyday role once he's back. That's likely to take at-bats away from either J.D. Davis or Todd Frazier. Davis has been much better with the stick in 2019.
