Jay Bruce Won't Play Against Royals
6 years agoSeattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Jay Bruce (Achilles) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday after being removed from the game early on Wednesday night with Achilles tightness. Consider him day-to-day for now. Bruce expectedly isn't hitting for average, but he does have seven home runs on the season and will remain useful in mixed leagues as long as he stays on the field. Edwin Encarnacion is at first base and is hitting cleanup, while Daniel Vogelbach will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth against Royals starter Jorge Lopez. Both Encarnacion and Vogelbach will be intriguing DFS plays for their power. Bruce could be available to pinch hit on Thursday, so that shows us that the M's don't think his injury is very serious.
