Jason Vargas To Be Skipped In Rotation
6 years agoThe New York Mets will skip starting pitcher Jason Vargas' next turn in the rotation and have Jacob deGrom go on five days of rest against the Twins on Tuesday. Vargas allowed eight hits and two runs but struck out only two in five innings for a win against the Marlins last week in his first start of the season. With the team having extra off days in the first month, the Mets won't need Vargas right away. deGrom, who continues to be nearly unhittable after winning the National League Cy Young in 2018, is a must-start every time he toes the rubber.
