James Paxton Throws From 60 Feet On Monday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton (elbow) extended his throwing range on Monday, playing catch from 60 feet. He'd been throwing from shorter distances for two weeks prior to Monday. Paxton underwent Tommy John surgery in April and is in the midst of the long post-surgery recovery. If he continues to progress well, he could be ready for MLB action around midseason next year. The Mariners signed Paxton to a one-year deal this past offseason and he suffered his season-ending injury just 24 pitches into his first start of 2021. It's yet to be seen as to whether the 32-year-old will return to the Mariners next year or hit the free agency market again.
