James Paxton Hit By Liner, Leaves Early Tuesday
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton (arm) left his start early after taking a line drive off his left arm in the first inning Tuesday against the A's. He allowed a solo homer to Marcus Semien, struck out Matt Chapman and then was hit by a liner off the bat of Jed Lowrie to end his night. The left-hander was replaced by Felix Hernandez, who was making his first career relief appearance. Paxton has pitched well this year with a 3.68 ERA and 11.37 K/9, so his fantasy owners are hoping he can make his next start. We'll likely know more on the severity of his injury on Wednesday. If Paxton lands on the disabled list, Hernandez would be a likely candidate to jump back into the rotation.
