1 year agoSan Diego Padres outfield prospect Jakob Marsee was named the 2023 Arizona Fall League Joe Black MVP award winner after hitting an impressive .391/.509/.707 with five home runs, 20 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 25 walks in his 118 plate appearances with the Peoria Javelinas in this year's AFL. The 22-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder slashed .274/.413/.428 with an .840 OPS, 16 home runs, 46 RBI, 46 stolen bases and 103 runs scored in 129 games at High-A Fort Wayne and Double-A San Antonio during the regular season. Marsee can definitely hit and run and is regarded as the Padres' No. 12 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. If he picks up where he left off at Double-A in 2024, he could find himself promoted to Triple-A El Paso in short order.
