Jake Lamb Must Earn Playing Time Against Lefties
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo has said that first baseman/third baseman Jake Lamb must earn his at-bats against left-handed pitchers in 2019. Lovullo also said that Lamb isn't in a platoon at first base with Christian Walker. Lamb played in only 56 games for the D-Backs last season due to injury and hit .222 with six home runs and 31 RBI. The 28-year-old still has plenty of power, but he'll need to improve his slash line of .160/.265/.292 in his career against southpaws if he's to become relevant in mixed leagues. Lamb was out of the lineup on Opening Day against Dodgers lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu.
