Jake Arrieta Had Torn Meniscus Last Year
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (knee) said he pitched the second half of last season with a torn meniscus in his knee. However, he expects to be ready for the start of the season after having surgery last month. The soon-to-be 33-year-old finished with a disappointing 3.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 138 strikeouts over 31 starts in his first season in Philly, but the knee injury might've been the big reason why he was so bad. He was much worse in the second half (3-5, 5.04 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) than he was in the first half (7-6, 3.23 ERA, 1.22 WHIP), so there's a chance he bounces back in 2019. You can snag him at a nice value in the late rounds of mixed league drafts.
