Jake Arrieta Had Knee Surgery Weeks Ago
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta underwent knee surgery a couple weeks ago, according to manager Gabe Kapler. The meniscus injury he was dealing with was suffered during the offseason while he was weight training. However, the Phillies expect him to be ready for the start of the season. It's not what you want to hear right as spring training is getting underway, but it doesn't appear to be a major injury. Expect him to be limited in spring training action. The soon-to-be 33-year-old righty went 10-11 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 7.2 K/9 in 31 starts in his first year in Philly and can struggle with walks at times. He was already trending down in fantasy circles, but this new injury news will make owners even more hesitant to select him in mixed leagues.
