Jack Leiter Will Start On Wednesday
3 months agoTexas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed on Tuesday that the plan is for right-handed pitching prospect Jack Leiter to start on Wednesday evening against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. Leiter was on the team's taxi squad on Tuesday and will officially be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, gets the best matchup in baseball, but he's still going to be a bit of a dicey streaming option for fantasy managers after pitching to an eye-popping 16.39 ERA and 2.57 WHIP with seven strikeouts, six walks and three homers allowed in 9 1/3 innings over his first three big-league starts earlier in 2024. Leiter has been much better in 77 innings for Round Rock (3.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 110:35 K:BB), but better command will be required if he's to wants to pitch well on Wednesday and perhaps stick around in the rotation in Texas once rosters expand.
