Indians Sign Brad Miller
6 years agoThe Cleveland Indians signed free-agent infielder Brad Miller to a major league contract on Sunday. Miller signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers on Feb. 27 but opted out of his contract on March 21. He will start the season on the Opening Day roster with both shortstop Francisco Lindor (calf) and second baseman Jason Kipnis (calf) on the injured list. With Jose Ramirez also going down with an injury Sunday, Miller could see consistent at-bats to begin the season and can be effective against right-handed pitching in the right matchups. Miller hit .230 in 75 games last year with the Rays and Brewers and has a .239 average with 75 home runs in 680 career games.
