Indians Pick Up Option On Carlos Carrasco, Decline Brandon Guyer
6 years agoThe Cleveland Indians picked up starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco's $9.75 million option for the 2019 season on Tuesday while declining outfielder Brandon Guyer's $3 million option. Guyer will receive a $250,000 buyout and will become a free agent. Likely an ace on most other teams, Carrasco went 17-10 with a nice 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and career-high 10.8 K/9 across 32 outings (30 starts) in 2018. That comes after recording 18 wins the previous season. The right-hander will remain a strong fantasy choice for the upcoming season. Guyer hit just .206/.300/.371 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 103 games for the Tribe. He'll likely latch on somewhere else as a bench bat.
