Indians Intend To Trade Francisco Lindor Before Opening Day
4 years agoThe Cleveland Indians intend to trade shortstop Francisco Lindor by Opening Day, several rival teams have been informed. Lindor made $17.5 million last season and is projected to make around $21 million in salary arbitration in his final year before free agency. The 2021 season is the final year of Lindor's contract and the Indians are strapped for cash. The 26-year-old will demand a high price on the trade market, even though Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Corey Seager and Trevor Story are also set to become free agents after the 2021 season. Lindor, a switch-hitting shortstop, hit .258/.335/.415 with eight home runs, 27 RBI and six steals in 236 at-bats during the shortened 2020 season.
