Ian Kennedy Signs With Rangers
4 years agoThe Texas Rangers signed free-agent right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training on Monday. The 36-year-old veteran of 14 years in the major leagues is coming off a 2020 season with the Kansas City Royals in which he allowed 14 earned runs (seven home runs) in just 14 innings over 15 outings (one start) for an ERA of 9.00. All 30 of his career saves came in his last full season in 2019, when he posted a 3.41 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 73 strikeouts and 17 walks in 63 1/3 innings. At this point in his career, Kennedy is just bullpen depth, and he won't be a lock to win a spot on the major league roster to open the 2021 season. You can ignore the right-hander in all fantasy leagues for the time being. He ended the 2020 season with a Grade 2 calf strain.
