Ian Kennedy An Option For Saves In KC
6 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Ian Kennedy entered the regular season having started 277 straight games since his most recent relief outing in the majors. That run ended on Opening Day when he pitched the eighth inning for his first relief outing since Sept. 23, 2009. Kennedy then earned his first professional save on Saturday. It wasn't easy, as Kennedy allowed two singles to start the ninth inning before getting out of it. Wily Peralta, who was 14-for-14 in save chances last year, pitched one-third of an inning and gave up two runs on Thursday. Peralta and Brad Boxberger were expected to be the main closing options this year, but manager Ned Yost also likes Kennedy in the mix. Peralta and Kennedy seem to be the best options right now, but this will probably be a frustrating situation for fantasy owners all year.
