Ian Happ Wants To See Time At Second Base
6 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ made it clear to manager Joe Maddon in the offseason that he wants to be considered an option for second base in 2019. Maddon plans to rotate Happ around again this season in an effort to keep him in the lineup consistently. He'll be an option in the outfield and at first, second and third base. However, Happ only appeared in three innings at second base last year, compared to 260 1/3 innings in 2017. Daniel Descalso, Ben Zobrist and David Bote are also options at the keystone. Happ could see more time at second, but there's no guarantee he'll regain eligibility there for fantasy owners. He has modest power and speed and will mostly be a utility guy for those in NL-only leagues.
