Hunter Strickland Out A Couple Months
6 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Hunter Strickland will be out up to "a couple months" after an MRI exam showed a Grade 2 strain of his right lat muscle, according to manager Scott Servais. Doctors haven't actually set a timetable for his return, but Strickland is optimistic that he won't need surgery. He will rehab his shoulder with ice and stem therapy for now and is considering a platelet-rich plasma injection to speed up the recovery. Nick Rumbelow was called on for the save on Saturday night, but Chasen Bradford recorded the save on Sunday. Cory Gearrin wasn't available on Saturday but will likely be another closing candidate in Strickland's absence, along with lefty Roenis Elias. “We’ll try to match up the best we can and put the right guys in there,” Servais said. “It’ll be a different guy at the end of the game almost every night, unless somebody takes it and runs with it.” Anthony Swarzak (shoulder) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and will be another option. It's anyone's guess as to who will save a game for Seattle on any given day, which means fantasy owners will likely be disappointed if they expend resources to figuring it out.
