Hunter Strickland Joins Reds
3 years agoFree-agent relief pitcher Hunter Strickland signed an undisclosed deal with the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. Strickland pitched for three teams -- Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels and Milwaukee Brewers -- in 2021 and had a combined 2.61 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 58 strikeouts and 22 walks in 58 2/3 relief innings over 57 outings. With Lucas Sims set to open the season on the injured list, the Reds are expected to go with a closer committee to begin the year, and Strickland, who has 21 career saves in eight big-league seasons, could enter that mix alongside the likes of Luis Cessa, Art Warren, Justin Wilson and Jeff Hoffman. It's not exactly pretty in the bullpen for Cincinnati, so fantasy managers may be wise to stay away.
