Hunter Strickland Getting Closer To A Return
5 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Hunter Strickland (lat) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Sunday without any issues and will throw up to 25 to 30 pitches off a mound on Wednesday. He should then move to live batting practice and then Triple-A Tacoma for a rehab assignment. The 30-year-old right-hander started the year as the team's closer but managed to throw just 2 1/3 innings before getting hurt. He had an 11.57 ERA in that span but also two strikeouts and two saves. With Seattle's bullpen struggling for competent options late in games, Strickland should return to the ninth-inning role in short order when he's ready, making him one to snatch off the waiver wire if he's available in your league.
