Hunter Strickland, Felix Hernandez Throw Friday
5 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Hunter Strickland (lat) and starting pitcher Felix Hernandez (lat) both played catch on Friday. Both pitchers are ramping up their throwing programs after suffering setbacks. Strickland has the better chance of returning sooner, but both pitchers are unlikely to be back until after the All-Star break. Roenis Elias has emerged as the team's primary closer, but Strickland started the year in that role and could have something to say about it when he's back. King Felix is a shell of his former self and is no longer the dominant force he was in his prime. The 33-year-old is 1-4 with a 6.52 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings in his eight starts. He can be avoided in mixed leagues when he's back.
