Hunter Harvey To Begin Year As Reliever
5 years agoBaltimore Orioles pitcher Hunter Harvey, a former first-round pick, will be a relief pitcher in 2020. A former top pitching prospect in Baltimore's system, Harvey never lived up to expectations because of injuries. But he made his big league debut in 2019 out of the bullpen and excelled, posting a 1.42 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and excellent 15.6 K/9 in seven outings (6 1/3 innings). It's a small sample size, but the O's like what he brings in short spurts out of the bullpen. Mychal Givens is probably the favorite for save chances to begin the year, but it's not out of the question that Harvey could be in the mix eventually if he continues to excel in a relief role. He's a name to monitor for those speculating on saves in much deeper leagues.
