Heath Fillmyer Added On Minor League Deal
4 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a minor league deal with free-agent right-hander Heath Fillmyer on Wednesday, according to sources. The 26-year-old last pitched for the Kansas City Royals in 2019 and will give the Snakes some pitching depth as they enter the 2021 regular season. Fillmyer allowed 20 earned runs in 22 1/3 innings over 12 outings (three starts) for the Royals in 2019 for a brutal 8.06 ERA and 1.79 WHIP while also striking out 15 and walking 12. He was a lot better in his first major league season in 2018 for KC, posting a 4.26 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 57 strikeouts and 32 walks in 82 1/3 innings over 17 outings (13 starts). With just a 6.2 K/9 in 104 2/3 major league innings, the righty will need to lower his free passes if he hopes to find any success.
