Harrison Bader Has Earned Center Field Job
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals general manager Michael Girsch said that outfielder Harrison Bader will be the team's full-time center fielder entering the 2019 season. "The way Harrison played in center field, defensively, it's pretty obvious that he's the best defensive center fielder we have," Girsch said. "He's hit more than well enough to earn the first shot at it." Bader ranked fourth among all outfielders with 19 defensive runs saved. Jose Martinez may be a trade candidate because he fits better at designated hitter. Dexter Fowler will return from a foot injury, so he'll battle with Tyler O'Neill and Adolis Garcia for the right field job. Bader also held his own with the bat, hitting .264/.334/.422 with 12 home runs, 37 RBI and 15 steals in 138 games. His arrow is pointing up heading into next season.
