Griffin Canning May Resume Throwing In A Week
5 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Griffin Canning (elbow), who has received platelet-rich plasma injections, may resume throwing in around a week. Canning was shut down in February when he was diagnosed with UCL damage in his right elbow, but he's trying to avoid surgery that would likely put him out for all of 2020 and some of the 2021 season. The right-hander has more time to heal and take his rehab slow with the season delayed due to the coronavirus, but the 23-year-old is still a risky fantasy selection in mixed leagues because of the uncertainty surrounding his status. Before his injury, Canning was a potential second-year breakout starter after going 5-6 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 96 K's in 90 1/3 innings (17 starts) in his rookie campaign with the Halos.
