Greg Holland Returning To Royals
5 years agoThe Kansas City Royals agreed to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training with relief pitcher Greg Holland on Tuesday, according to a source. Holland pitched for KC from 2011- 2015 and had 145 saves while helping the Royals win the 2015 World Series. The 34-year-old missed all of the 2016 season due to injury and managed a league-leading 41 saves with the Rockies in 2017, but he mostly struggled in 2018 with the Cardinals and Nationals and posted a 4.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 17 saves, 41 strikeouts and 24 walks in 35 2/3 innings for Arizona last year. Ian Kennedy has become the team's ninth-inning arm, so Holland should just be late-inning depth if he makes the big league roster. There's not really any fantasy appeal here unless Holland finds his way into the ninth inning, and even then there may not be many save chances for this rebuilding franchise.
