Greg Holland Re-Signs With Royals
4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals re-signed reliever Greg Holland on Monday to a one-year deal worth at least $2.75 million. Holland can make as much as $4.5 million with performance bonuses, according to sources. The 35-year-old went 3-0 with six saves and a nice 1.91 ERA in 28 appearances for the Royals during the shortened 2020 season. Holland didn't allow a run in his final 13 games over 13 1/3 innings. The three-time All-Star made his big league debut with Kansas City in 2010 and played his first six seasons with them before later making stops in Colorado, St. Louis, Washington and Arizona. He's fifth among all active players with 212 career saves and has a 2.90 ERA in 10 seasons. Holland won't be guaranteed the closer job in 2021, but he's certainly the most experienced late-inning arms in their bullpen.
