Graham Gano To Compete With Joey Slye
5 years agoCarolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano, who missed all of last season with a left leg injury, is set to compete with Joey Slye for the job this summer in training camp. Slye filled in last year and made 78.1 percent of his kicks (23rd in the league) and missed four extra points. Gano, 33, is doing well in his rehab and has been kicking and working out at the team's facilities. The kicker also missed the last four games of the 2018 season with a knee injury, which later revealed a fractured femur. He made a career-high 96.7 percent of his field goals in his last full season in 2017, which led the NFL. Gano has two years remaining on his contract and would cost around $3 million in dead salary cap space over 2020 and 2021 if he's released. If fully healthy and effective, Gano should have a leg up on the competition, but stay tuned for training camp updates. Gano has the leg to be a fantasy starter if he can regain his 2017 form.
