Giants Sign Trevor Rosenthal
2 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed free-agent relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal to a major league deal for $4.5 million prorated on Thursday plus $2 million in performance bonuses, according to the team. Rosenthal is currently rehabbing in Arizona after suffering a hamstring cramp during a showcase for interested teams in early June. The 32-year-old doesn't have a timeline for a return and hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2020 due to shoulder and hip injuries. However, he's recorded double-digit saves in four of his last five seasons, and the Giants must have liked what they saw when they watched him pitch in June. In a best-case scenario, Rosenthal will provide some late-inning insurance, but he's far from a sure bet to make it into San Fran's bullpen, let alone be successful.
