Giants Pick Up Options On Madison Bumgarner, Pablo Sandoval
6 years agoThe San Francisco Giants exercised the 2019 options on starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner ($12 million) and corner infielder Pablo Sandoval ($555,000) on Monday. Bumgarner will have a very team-friendly one-year deal next year, but there's no guarantee he remains with the team through next season. The veteran left-hander has a 3.03 ERA through the first 10 seasons of his career and has built a Hall of Fame postseason resume with a 2.11 ERA in 16 playoff outings and a 0.25 ERA in five World Series starts. Bumgarner has missed significant time the last two years due to injuries and he's seen his velocity drop, but he can still be valuable for fantasy owners as a strong No. 2 if he's healthy. Sandoval is an extreme injury risk and won't even be guaranteed to make the final roster out of spring training.
