Giants Being Mindful Of Buster Posey's Workload
6 years agoThe San Francisco Giants are being mindful of catcher Buster Posey's early-season workload after he underwent major hip surgery last year. He didn't catch in back-to-back games in spring training, but manager Bruce Bochy said Posey has been cleared to do so. Posey caught all nine innings on Opening Day but was at first base Friday night. He will be behind the plate again on Saturday before taking the day off in the series finale on Sunday. Bochy confirmed that first baseman Brandon Belt might not start as many games as he normally would in the first couple weeks of the season in order to accommodate Posey. Left field also remains an option for Belt if Posey is at first base. Posey might not be the most valuable fantasy catcher anymore, but he's still one of the better offensive-minded catchers in a weak lot overall.
