German Marquez May Not Return This Year
5 years agoColorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that starting pitcher German Marquez (arm), who landed on the injured list on Monday, is dealing with a "tired arm" and may not pitch again this season. With the Rockies well out of contention, it makes plenty of sense to shut Marquez down for the final month to avoid risking any further injury. The 24-year-old righty has 12 wins on the year but a mediocre 4.76 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 175 K's in 174 innings over 28 starts. His home/road splits have been drastic -- 6.26 ERA and 1.56 WHIP at home and 3.67 ERA and 0.93 WHIP on the road. If you need more pitching help down the stretch, cutting Marquez might be necessary.
