5 years agoHouston Astros outfielder George Springer (hamstring) is unlikely to start his minor league rehab assignment this weekend, according to manager A.J. Hinch. "He’s doing well, and I know he’s going to do a lot of things today on the field," Hinch said. "He’s going to take some fly balls tomorrow. But I don’t see him going out this weekend." The Astros are being cautious with their All-Star outfielder. The 29-year-old was among the league leaders in multiple categories at the time of his injury, batting .308/.389/.643 with 17 home runs, 41 runs, 43 RBI and four stolen bases in 185 at-bats. He's been out since May 24 and might need another week before he's activated, but he's getting closer, so stay patient.
