Garrett Crochet Could Open The Year In The Rotation
9 months agoChicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said that starting the year with left-hander Garrett Crochet in the starting rotation is under consideration if that's what is best for him. "I anticipate him being on our major-league club, but I don't want to close the door on what's best for Garrett Crochet," Getz said. The 24-year-old southpaw has been preparing for a starting role this offseason, so at this point it would be a bit of a surprise if he opened the 2024 campaign in Chicago's bullpen. He'll certainly have a higher ceiling in fantasy in a starting role, but managers need to remember that all 72 of Crochet's big-league outings over three seasons to this point have come out of the bullpen. He also missed all of 2022 due to Tommy John surgery and was limited to only 25 appearances in total between the minors and majors last year.
