Eury Perez Being Sent To Minors
1 year agoThe Miami Marlins informed rookie right-hander Eury Perez that he is being optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday. Fantasy managers might be wondering why the Marlins would send a pitcher down that has posted a strong 2.36 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings over his 11 starts. Nobody is questioning how good the 20-year-old has been in his first year in the big leagues, but the Marlins want to monitor his workload the rest of the way, and this is the perfect time to do so with the All-Star break coming up next week. Perez needs to be stashed in all formats, but it could be some time before we see him again in Miami with both Edward Cabrera (shoulder) and Johnny Cueto (biceps) due back from the injured list early in the second half of the season.
